摘要: Summary • Pteris vittata is the first plant reported to be a hyperaccumulator of arsenic (As), and little known about mechanisms As hyperaccumulation in this plant. • Arsenic distribution at whole (fronds) cellular level was investigated using chemical analyses energy dispersive X-ray microanalyses (EDXA). Speciation fronds determined absorption near edge spectroscopy (XANES) analyses. • The majority found pinnae (96% total As). The concentration decreased from base apex fronds. Arsenic concentrations spores midribs were much lower than pinnae. EDXA revealed that compartmentalized mainly upper epidermal cells, probably vacuoles. pattern potassium similar As, whereas other elements (Ca, Cl, K, Mg, P S) distributed differently. • XANES showed approximately 75% present As(III) oxidation state remaining as As(V).
