摘要: Abstract The radiation induced copolymerization of maleic anhydride (MAH) with phenanthrene was studied mainly in the molten state at temperatures between 80 and 170° using 60Co-γ-rays. copolymer is almost alternating but high content MAH increases increasing polymerization temperature. At above 130° depropagation occurs maximum conversions obtained are controlled by a polymerization-depolymerization equilibrium. From mass spectroscopy studies, it likely that step responsible for higher temperatures. In melt, highest rate monomer mixture containing 78 mole % MAH. solution, reaction strongly depends on polarity solvent; highly polar solvents retard or inhibit reaction. unusual behaviour this system obviously due to strong intermolecular forces monomers.
