摘要: Abstract Leptin is known to play a role in the modulation of metabolism and control breathing acting mainly on central nervous structures, although additional actions peripheral arterial chemoreceptors have also been suggested literature. We therefore examined by means immunohistochemistry expression leptin receptors carotid bodies rats humans. relative receptor isoforms were studied real-time PCR. No or immunoreactivities visible type II cells either series. In rat bodies, diffuse positive stainings for (both with antibody recognizing all specific Ob-Rb) observed I cells. human mean percentage (±standard error) immunoreactive was 39.4% ± 5.1% percentages 57.3% ± 3.9% 33.3% ± 4.2% isoform Ob-Rb. Double immunofluorescences anti-tyrosine hydroxylase (type cell marker) anti-glial fibrillary acidic protein markers) confirmed selective location Ob-Rb Real-time PCR showed Ob-Ra, Ob-Rb, Ob-Rc Ob-Rf mRNA body, levels being Ob-Rf > Ob-Rc >> Ob-Ra >> Ob-Rb. Ob-Re not detected. The above findings suggest circulating locally produced regulation chemoreceptor discharge and/or metabolic sensing function, direct action
