摘要: Gene conversion is often invoked to explain the evolution of sequence patterns observed in major histocompatibility complex (MHC) genes and their alleles. This gene hypothesis MHC evolution. These observations interpretation probably belong a larger theoretical framework, namely systems resistance rapidly evolving pathogens. review looks critically at evidence favor this context. We conclude that case for existence an adaptive mechanism favoring mutations not proven.
