摘要: Lectins are proteins capable of reversible binding to the carbohydrates in glycoconjugates that can regulate many physiological and pathological events. Galectin-1, a β-galactoside-binding lectin, is expressed central nervous system (CNS) exhibits neuroprotective functions. Additionally, lectins isolated from plants have demonstrated beneficial action CNS. One example lectin with mannose-glucose affinity purified Canavalia brasiliensis seeds, ConBr, which displays antidepressant activity. On other hand, effects galactose-binding Vatairea macrocarpa seeds (VML) on CNS largely unknown. The aim this study was verify if VML able alter neural function by evaluating signaling enzymes, glial inflammatory adult mice hippocampus, as well behavioral parameters. administered intracerebroventricular (i.c.v) route increased immobility time forced swimming test (FST) 60 min after its injection through carbohydrate recognition domain-dependent mechanism.
