摘要: Abstract Objective To examine the magnitude and some risk factors of porcine cysticercosis in Bafut Santa, two sub-divisions noted for pig farming North West Region Cameroon. Methods A total 499 pigs 300 households were examined by tongue inspection serologically Ag-ELISA. Information was sought on age sex animals, prevailing husbandry systems, types feed, state each pen toilets. Futhermore, a questionnaire administered to farmers determine their awareness taeniasis/cysticercosis related factors. Results The prevalence disease significantly higher Santa (10.2%) than (4.2%), although there level both localities (62.3%). Age pigs, traditional rearing systems (roaming, tethered, earth floor pen, raised pen), faecal disposal environment poor sanitation influenced seroprevalence localities. Most (79.7%) used combination concentrate, grass kitchen waste feed pigs. Financial loss from estimated at 346 900 CFA representing 2% income. Conclusions Control measures advanced here include sensitization campaigns, periodic examination treatment infected veterinarians, improved proper use standard latrines regularly inspected sanitary officers, sound hygienic practices.
