摘要: While the academic land sharing–land sparing debate peaked in recognition that neither strategy alone may offer best solution to integrate commodity production with biodiversity conservation, lack of integrating local realities people and their cultural landscapes beyond mere conservation is hampering knowledge transfer from our scientific discourse policy agenda. Here, we focus on European landscapes, which represent prime examples for success but also fragility social-ecological agricultural systems benefit sharing. In contrast, challenge effectiveness sustainable agriculture. Moreover, question whether how either or sharing can actually be implemented ground. We conclude creating maintaining nowadays a normative choice society take. Based this, caution against ongoing prioritization optimizing economic benefits perceived such systems. highlight limitations instruments safeguard multifunctionality landscapes. Taken together, suggest deliberations sparing–sharing discussion ought moved limited perspective towards holistic consideration as spaces are shaped by satisfy manifold aspects human well-being, ranging materialistic needs.
