Colchicine-induced polyploids from cell suspension cultures of sugarcane.

摘要: A high percentage of endoreduplicated chromosomes resulted when cell suspension cultures sugarcane (L..) were treated with colchicine. Cytological examination 46 plants from H 57-1627 callus differentiated the colchicine-treated cells showed 22 to be polyploids, 2 mixoploids, and diploids. This is first report chromosome doubling in commercial hybrids. The proposed method treating should prove beneficial breeders other interested obtaining polyploid plants.
