摘要: Abstract We correlate the effect of high chloride concentration on critical pitting temperature (CPT) type 316L stainless steel with its pit solution chemistry as determined by artificial technique. It is shown that change in CPT bulk (0.5–9 mol kg −1 ) can be correlated a ratio C ∗ / s , where dissolved alloy cation to sustain pitting, and solubility FeCl 2 at surface. A complicating factor natural pits only grow  =  lower concentrations, but without salt film very concentrations; this transition believed occur close 5 or 6 m concentration. The dependence given new interpretation based common-ion operating within an altered local complexation.
