摘要: The prevalence of obesity is growing worldwide, and strategies to overcome this epidemic need be developed urgently. Bariatric surgery a very effective treatment option reduce excess weight often performed in women reproductive age. Weight loss influences fertility positively can resolve hormonal imbalance. So far, guidelines suggest conceiving after losing maximum thus recommend conception at least 12–24 months surgery. As limited data these suggestions exist, further evidence urgently needed as well for gain pregnancy. Oral glucose tolerance tests the diagnosis gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) should not bariatric procedures due potential hypoglycaemic adverse events high variability levels load. This challenges utility usual diagnostic criteria GDM accurate prediction complications. Furthermore, recommendations on essential nutrient supplementation pregnancy lactation are scarce. In addition, nutritional deficiencies or daily intake pregnant investigated. review summarizes current evidence, proposes clinical surgery, highlights areas lack resulting urgent more investigations.
