摘要: Glucuronides, or β-D-glucosiduronic acids, are formed when a molecule condenses with the C-1 atom of glucuronic acid; free carboxyl group at C-6 ensures polarity resulting conjugate, which is usually more water-soluble than aglycon and therefore rapidly transported in, excreted from, organism. Glucuronide formation commonest conjugation in mammals, presumably from ready availability acid tissues many chemical groups forming glucuronides. Enzymes catalyzing glucuronide synthesis have been widely, if not deeply, studied exhaustive references up to 1965 available (Dutton, 1966 b). Since then several questions, few answers, clarified; present review will attempt cover later significant work, but can only summarise earlier findings indicate sources further information.
