Quantitative relationship between indole-3-acetic acid and abscisic acid during leaf growth in Coleus blumei

摘要: Quantitative determinations by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry ofindole-3-acetic acid (IAA) and abscisic (ABA) in growing leaves ofColeusblumei plants show parallel declines leaf concentrations of bothhormones,except number 3 (about three-fourths full size) where IAA level wasthe lowest those measured. Expansion the most recently unfurled tofull size serves, effect, to dilute both ABA about 1.7 1.Althoughabsolute levels varied as much an order magnitude from onebatch another, were proportional withan overall correlation coefficient 0.91. Evidence, correlative andcausal, for determination status IAA—and byABA—in other developing organs is summarized.
