摘要: Commercial sexual exploitation and sex trafficking of children adolescents represent a severe form child abuse an important pediatric health concern. Youth who are commercially sexually exploited have constellation clinical risk factors high rates unmet physical mental needs, including conditions that directly result from their victimization. Common needs among include violence-related injuries, pregnancy, transmitted infections, other acute infections. substance use disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression suicidality, anxiety. The existing literature indicates trauma-informed approaches to the care youth recommended in all aspects delivery. Additionally, medical education attunes providers identify appropriately respond unique this highly vulnerable group is needed. available research on commercial remains fairly limited, yet expanding rapidly. Especially relevant field pediatrics, future guide professionals how best for setting signifies key gap extant opportunity study.
