摘要: OBJECTIVE The goal of this study has been to determine whether hyaluronic acid (HA) or exercise therapy can improve functional parameters in patients with osteoarthritis (OA) the ankle. METHODS In a prospective clinical trial, 43 ankles (30 patients) radiographic Kellgren Lawrence grade III OA were randomized receive three intra-articular HA injections, one-week interval for six weeks. Patients evaluated by American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) Ankle-Hindfoot Scale followed-up after 12 months. RESULTS Total AOFAS score improved both groups, varying from 61.6+/-16.8 90.1+/-9.7 treatment 72.1+/-16.6 87.5+/-17.5 using at end trial (p<0.01). There no statistically significant differences between groups. CONCLUSION This confirmed that, injections provide improvement. However, larger trials longer follow-up are necessary more definite conclusions.
