摘要: Abstract The histologic appearance, locoregional recurrence, and rate/site of metastases spontaneous feline oral squamous cell carcinoma are similar to head neck cancer in humans. A feasibility study intratumoral Etanidazole, a hypoxic sensitizer, radiation therapy were instituted this model. Eleven cats with treated Etanidazole therapy. Total doses 1.5–24.0 gms/m2 (0.5–6.9 gms). tumor partial response rate was 100% (11/11); the median volume regression 70%. All have died as result recurrence or tumor-related complications. Median survival 116 days. Ten been autopsied. Non-necrotic necrotic cells identified at treatment site all cats. Pharmacokinetic studies performed six Following intravenous infusion, plasma elimination biexponential. systemic availability following administration 61.2 ± 21.1%. Peak levels observed 14 minutes injection, after which Thirty administration, 62.8% levels. Feline appears be useful model human cancer. Cats tolerate substantial Etanidazole. cause rapid regression, but not cure, carcinoma. There is similarity between kinetics humans Further planned.
