摘要: Peritoneal carcinomatosis has long been considered a terminal condition and constitutes difficult therapeutic challenge given the dismal prognosis associated with this entity debilitating effect it exerts on affected patients. Over past decade, novel approaches to peritoneal surface malignancies have emerged. These new are all based strong rationale: most frequently, carcinosis is locoregional that should be approached treatments, such as cytoreductive surgery peritonectomy procedures for macroscopic disease in combination perioperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy microscopic residual disease. In order take advantage of synergistic effect, different devices techniques developed. Perioperative milestone combined approach malignancy. Two main modalities administering chemotherapeutic agents described: intraoperative hyperthermic (HIPEC), early postoperative normothermic; former gained greater acceptance among malignancy centers.
