摘要: Ages ranging from the Late Cretaceous (∼65 Myr) to Oligocene (∼29 have been reported for 100-km-diameter Popigai impact structure1,2 on Anabar shield, central Siberia. These ages3,4,5,6,7,8 overlap timing of several possible impact-related features, including Cretaceous/Tertiary and Eocene/Oligocene stratigraphic boundaries, North American tektites9, recently occurrences an iridium anomaly shocked quartz in Eocene deposits northern Italy10. Here we report age determinations melt rocks using 40Ar–39Ar step heating technique constrain event. Our results are consistent with a 35.7± 0.2 Myr (2σ)—coincident time found Italy. As this is also similar that tektites, which associated Chesapeake Bay structure eastern United States11,12,13, there seem at least two large essentially contemporaneous impacts during Eocene.
