摘要: North American microtektites and tektite fragments have been found in Late Eocene deep-sea deposits at Bath Cliff, Barbados. The (and microtektites) occur ∼ 26 m below the Eocene—Oligocene boundary. 40Ar/39Ar laser-probe dating of seven yielded an age 35.4 ± 0.6 Ma (2σ error) reasonable agreement with previously published ages for tektites. Extrapolation from layer to overlying boundary, using a sediment accumulation rate 27.1 Ma−1, indicates 34.4 (2σ)
