Why ?Work?? Gender and the ?Total Social Organization of Labour?

摘要: Although feminism revitalized the study of work, deconstructionist tendencies may now undermine further theoretical advance. Implicit threats to very concept ‘work’ pave way for conceptual dissolution or, unwittingly, recuperation by an unreconstructed mainstream. This paper argues a reconceptualization which builds on new insights but avoids essentialist or ahistorical categories. The issue is approached through consideration simultaneous embeddedness and structural differentiation characterize activities institutions. A reorientation perspective towards conception work as ‘total social organization labour’ proposed means moving forward. By focusing relational all labour, however wherever it undertaken, economic activity recovered, no longer restricted boundaries separating institutional spheres constraints demarcating traditional academic disciplines.
