摘要: Background: The 27 countries in the European Union have a combined total of 177 million ha forested and other wooded land. These are mainly characterised as semi-natural, multi-functional forests. Only about 13 plantations i , although an additional 47 regarded planted forests (Forest Europe 2011). highly diverse due to centuries management with different cultural objectives. Often current is nature oriented so may not be used primarily for wood production. Wood provides only small part income many 16 private owners according Confederation Europeenne des Proprietaires Forestiers (CEPF 2013). circumstances, plus sluggish demand brought by economic crisis, generated challenges forestry sector. Demand expected increase expansion green economy increased emphasis on use bioenergy. Methods: Three forest scenarios (analysed EFISCEN model) were project supply response from EU over next 50 years. Results: Shortening broadleaved rotation length planting 50% felled area fast-growing coniferous species could 473 561 m 3 y -1 . reach more than 1200 2065.
