摘要: Objective To report the short- and long-term outcomes of surgical management umbilical infection in foals. Study design Retrospective case series. Animals Foals (n = 65). Methods Medical records (2010-2015) foals up to 1 month age, surgically treated for an were reviewed. Short-term (at time discharge from hospital) (1 year after surgery) survival rates obtained. Clinical variables influencing assessed. Chi-square or Fisher's exact test used evaluate relationship between data retrieved outcome. P ≤ .05 was considered statistically significant. Results Sixty-five included study, representing 17.2% all admitted hospital. Fifty discharged hospital (77%) 43 (66%) alive surgery. Lower associated with: younger age at presentation, septic joints, multiple pathologies, higher creatinine level, heart rate, diagnosed rather than prior referral, prolonged hospitalization, longer period arrival surgery, postoperative complications. The most common findings urachal enlargement followed by right arterial enlargement. Conclusion Younger with worse systemic condition concurrent disorders are risk treatment failure. Early diagnosis improves Surgical yields good results should be upon diagnosis, taking into account clinical situation. Clinical significance Based on this neonatal performed as early possible, a outcome can expected
