摘要: The D. melanogaster DNA segment in the recombinant phage λDm2L1 contains at least eight copies of a tandemly repeated 1250-base pair (bp) sequence (henceforth called 2L1 sequence). Testes from XO males contain an abundant 800-base RNA species that is homologous to 520-bp region sequence. Blotting experiments show genome and present on both X Y chromosomes. With use X-Y translocations, has been mapped between kl-1 kl-2 long arm chromosome. In Oregon-R wild type there are estimated 200 chromosome probably 80 some other strains repetition frequency about same, but copy number much reduced. On basis five investigated, correlation presence particular allele Stellate locus (Ste; 1-45.7). It seems low corresponds Ste + high Ste. determines whether single or star-shaped crystals observed spermatocytes males. Studies using simulans mauritiana restriction fragments male not female DNA, indicating this only these two species. derived erecta, teissieri yakuba, very little, if any, hybridization with probe.
