摘要: Somatostatin and octreotide have a definitive role in the management of symptomatic gut neuroendocrine tumours, particularly VIPomas carcinoid. They probably also variceal bleeding, but this needs further confirmatory randomized trials. At present there is potential short bowel syndrome, dumping syndrome gastrointestinal fistulae, clinical studies are needed. Possibly AIDS-related diarrhoea 'idiopathic' secretory diarrhoea, more evidence required. no acute pancreatitis peptic ulcer bleeding. Irritable remains unexplored unlikely to benefit.
