摘要: Objective The aim of the present study was to evaluate overall treatment efficacy (tumor control, facial nerve function, complications) and quality life for patients treated primarily unilateral vestibular schwannomas 30 mm or less, either by microsurgery gamma knife (GK) radiosurgery. results two groups are compared with each other, main emphasis on long-term life. Methods This is a retrospective 189 consecutive patients, 86 103 knife. mean observation time 5.9 years. All had magnetic resonance imaging scan clinical evaluation performed toward end study. To life, we used standardized questionnaires, Glasgow Benefit Inventory Short-Form 36. questionnaires were sent 168 living patients. reply rate 83.3%. Results A total 79.8% in group 94.8% GK good function (House-Brackmann Grade 1-2). Hearing usually lost after microsurgery, whereas preserved hearing, which often became reduced over years treatment. efficacy, defined as no need additional treatment, similar modalities. Quality normative data, being most group. Some questions showed an association sex. Conclusion Posttreatment complication rates, all significantly favor
