摘要: The compressive failure of various glasses under uniaxial shock loading has been the subject much recent discussion. Evidence occurring behind a boundary that follows front accumulated by Bourne and co–workers, this called wave. variations in material properties across include complete loss tensile strength, reduction shear lowered acoustic impedance sound speed, opacity to light. While these observations are generally held be true, there no universally agreed mechanism for process or processes give rise failure. This work presents results plate impact experiments aim identify which wave propagates soda–lime glass fully filled lead glass. Internal interfaces within show different effects two materials shed light upon mechanisms operate. only after delay sodalime glass, failed strength is increased at inner interface compared with face. second tile greater, initiating fracture
