摘要: Abstract Objectives: To compare the validity and acceptability of acetic-acid visualization (VIA), magnified (VIAM), spatula+cotton swab–Papanicolaou (Pap) smear (SS), cervical brush–Pap (CB) in detection precursor/early cancer lesions. Methods: A total 12 992 women aged between 25 65 years from 14 Philippine centers were randomly allocated to four tests. The gold standard was colposcopy with biopsy for positive/suspicious cases. Results: Sensitivity rates [95% confidence intervals (CIs)] 37 (CI, 26.8–48.5), 34.1 24.8–44.8), 14.3 6.4–27.8), 19.1 9.2–34.6) VIA, VIAM, SS, CB, respectively. Specificity 90.7 89.6–91.7), 89–91.1), 97.5 96.8–98), 97.9 97.3–98.4), Kappa Pap (PS) within ranged −0.154 0.783, −0.028 0.364. Screeners preferred CB; screened-women VIA. Conclusions: VIAM methods are recommended initial screening Philippines.
