摘要: Background Few research studies have examined longitudinal improvements in oral communication skills and quality of peer relationships children with implants. Moreover, although the emerging literature suggests that improvement social functioning follows communication, it is still unknown what factors enhance or impede relations between these constructs. Methods Based on parent interviews, current study long-term speech language hearing peers 19 implanted children. Results Results demonstrate average, continue to improve even years after implantation, especially those initial poorer skills. While ability are strongly associated at each time point, gains two variables only for some children. Other factors, including self-confidence acceptance, seem moderate this relationship.
