摘要: Aim Bioelectrical impedance analysis has been reported to have high reliability and accuracy in assessing body composition. However, equations for estimating appendicular skeletal muscle mass are population-specific, few developed older Japanese adults. Thus, the purpose of present study was develop validate an estimate equation using bioelectrical analysis. Methods A total 250 adults aged 65 years participated this study. Appendicular measured dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, resistance a multifrequency analyzer. Multiple regression applied derive sex-specific estimation formulae analysis, Bland–Altman used test agreement. Results The cross-validation results showed that slopes intercepts lines were approximately one zero, respectively, coefficients determination standard errors newly similar between two groups. single all participants as follows. Men: mass = 0.197 × (impedance index) + 0.179 × (weight) − 0.019 (R2 = 0.87, error estimate = 0.98 kg). Women: mass = 0.221 × (impedance index) + 0.117 × (weight) + 0.881 (R2 = 0.89, estimate = 0.81 kg). Conclusion These new offer valid option Geriatr Gerontol Int 2014; 14: 851–857.
