摘要: This article is concerned with the developmental processes that prime appressorium of Magnaporthe grisea for mechanical penetration host surface. Experiments have shown melanized appressoria generate enormous turgor pressure following accumulation high concentrations cytoplasmic osmolytes, and thereby deliver substantial invasive force at tip a slender hypha. Recent molecular genetic studies provide authoritative evidence central role played by melanin biosynthesis in operation appressorium, still other revealed identity some osmolytes responsible generation. However, our picture appressorial function remains limited number problems: maximum level questionable, metabolic source mystery, control melanization wall are poorly understood. Progress toward resolution these issues discussed.
