摘要: Background Emergency department (ED) to inpatient physician handoffs are subject complex challenges. We assessed physicians' perceptions of the ED admission handoff process and identified potential barriers safe patient care. Methods conducted a cross-sectional survey at 627-bed tertiary care academic medical center. Eligible participants included all resident, fellow, faculty physicians directly involved in from emergency medicine (EM) 5 admitting services. The addressed communication quality, clinical information, interpersonal perceptions, assignment responsibilities, organizational factors, safety. Participants reported their responses via 5-point Likert scale an open-ended description handoff-related adverse events. Results Response rates were 63% for (94/150) 86% EM (32/37). Compared respondents, that vital information was communicated less frequently 8 content areas (P Conclusion Physicians safety often risk during process. Admitting had divergent regarding communication, sequential common. Further research is needed better understand this investigate strategies improvement.
