摘要: The aim of this study was to evaluate "in vivo" the usefulness molecular imprinting technology obtain therapeutic soft contact lenses capable prolonging permanence timolol in precorneal area, compared conventional and eyedrops. Soft (diameter 14 mm, center thickness 0.08 mm) consisted N,N-diethylacrylamide (DEAA; main component matrix), methacrylic acid (MAA; functional monomer) ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA; cross-linker) were prepared by methodology (non-imprinted) or applying a technique using as template (imprinted ones). After washing reloading, release studies carried out rabbits showed that made method (34 microg dose) provided measurable concentrations tear fluid for 2.0- 3.0-fold longer than non-imprinted (21 eyedrops (doses 34 125 microg), respectively. Furthermore, area under concentration-time curve (AUC) 3.3- 8.7-fold greater imprinted eyedrops, concentration did not affect residence time drug significantly. On other hand, loading capacity improved method; sustaining levels being proportional lenses. These results indicate are promising devices able provide more sustained with lower doses
