Horizontal or vertical transmission of hepatitis B virus? A serological survey in family members of hepatitis B carriers in Singapore

摘要: Abstract Hepatitis B serology was performed on 270 family members of 78 hepatitis carriers and e antigen status determined in those found to be HBsAg positive. The mean age index patients 38 years (range 3–74) that 28 1–71). 67 (25%) were proportions positive for negative but anti-HBs and/or anti-HBc 25% 20% children, 10% 68% spouses, 36% 26% siblings 29% 55% parents. For children parents the similar whether patient mother (24% 24%) or father (26% 18%). Our results suggest horizontal transmission is a significant mode spread within Singapore.
