PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE, PRIVATE BUILT INVESTMENT, AND LOCAL PLANNING CAPACITY: AN EXAMINATION OF LINKAGES IN THE CENTRAL INDIANA REGION, 1990-2000

摘要: This study examines a 44-county region in central Indiana to determine how closely public infrastructure and private built investment are linked, whether the strength of linkage is affected by differences planning environments different jurisdictions. Two databases were developed examine nature relationship between tools investment. One dataset included indicators used county jurisdictions second information on construction activity obtained from proprietary database. Findings indicate that counties with more (such as capital improvement plans, full-time planners subdivision regulations) demonstrate closer coordination investments. The appears become stronger capacity increases. Policy implications directions for further research suggested.
