摘要: Abstract Chronic exposure to organic contaminants such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) can lead the development of resistance these chemicals, a condition associated with reduced response CYP1A1, pollutant-inducible biomarker. We measured CYP1A activity (ethoxyresorufin o-deethylase, EROD) and PCB concentrations in feral fish from Town Branch/Mud River system (Logan County, KY), stream historically contaminated PCBs partially remediated. As first step evaluating possible resistant populations this system, we expression body burdens resident sites previously characterized containing biologically significant levels inducing compounds. Mean edible flesh ranged 75.2 16.7 μg/g collected Branch remediated were relatively low (1.23 μg/g) reference site fish. However, hepatic was similar among individuals most species contaminated/remediated sites. The absence elevated despite presence may indicate have developed sensitivity induction, acquired toxicants.
