Equilibrium configurations of particles on a sphere: the case of logarithmic interactions

摘要: We consider a system of N particles which are confined to the surface sphere and interact via potential that depends logarithmically on their separation. The ground-state properties this investigated for N=2 65. Unlike case Coulomb interactions has configurations with zero dipole moment all N. thermal selected set systems in range 500 determined by Monte Carlo simulation. results compared analytical calculations small- large-N limits.
