摘要: Cortical porosity increases with age and affects bone strength, but its association fracture in older men is unknown. The aim of this study was to investigate whether cortical associated prevalent fractures men. A subsample 456 aged 80.2 ± 3.5 (mean SD) years, available high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography measurements at the tibia from 5-year follow-up exam, drawn prospective MrOS Gothenburg study. Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry used measure areal mineral density (aBMD). Data on physical activity, calcium intake, medications, diseases, smoking were collected questionnaires exam. Of 87 (19.1%) or after 50 years (all group), 52 (11.4%) had a self-reported before baseline exam 35 (7.7%) an X-ray-verified between follow-up. Men all-fracture group 15.8% (13.2% 4.9% versus 11.4% 3.8%; p < 0.001) 21.6% (14.1% 5.2% 11.6% 3.9%; 0.01) higher porosity, respectively, than nonfracture group. independent associations microstructure parameters tested using multivariate logistic regression age, height, weight, smoking, diseases as covariates. independently any (reported X-ray-verified; OR per SD increase 1.49; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.17 1.90) alone (OR 1.73; CI, 1.23 2.42). Including aBMD (spine hip, respectively) above revealed that 1.54; 2.01) 1.00 2.22). prevalence even adjustment for aBMD.
