摘要: In humans as in animals, males and females are dissimilar their genetic hormonally driven behaviour; they process information differently, perceive experience emotions different ways, display diverse attitudes, language social skills, show sex-related differences the brain anatomy organization. Drug addiction is a widespread relapsing illness that affects both men women. Sex-dependent have been frequently observed biological behavioural effects of substances abuse, including cannabis. Beside sex cannabinoid-induced related to cannabis abuse dependence, cannabinoids shown exert sex-dependent also other physiological aspects, such food intake energy balance (more evident males), or anxiety depression females). Research has just begun identify factors which could provide neurobiological basis for gender-based cannabinoid effects, among which, gonadal hormones seem play crucial role. Yet, pharmacodynamic pharmacokinetic may be important, might due, at least part, muscle mass fat tissue distribution between females. Here, we will review clinical laboratory-based research evidence revealing important put forward some suggestions future studies fill gap our knowledge gender-specific bias pharmacology.
