摘要: Abstract Objectives: To evaluate the impact of vaccination for Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) on pediatric hospital admissions in New York State, and to identify risk factors children who continue be admitted Hib invasive disease. Methods: Retrospective review hospitalizations state from 1982 through 1993 a survey immunization records physician offices Monroe County, York. Results: In 1982, 769 were hospitals Hib-related conditions; by 1993, this had decreased 133. Significant declines during study period occurred age-adjusted admission rates meningitis, septicemia, pneumonia, epiglottitis, but not arthritis osteomyelitis. alone, 712 admissions, 18 deaths, 135 episodes morbidity avoided. Since 1991, conditions have remained fairly constant. Minority subjects twice as likely white disease (0.44 vs 0.17/100,000). Children living urban Rochester also are more less completely immunized against (61%) than those suburban areas (82%). Conclusions: Although vaccine has major conditions, goal eliminating will require programs targeted at groups high risk, such minorities cities. (J Pediatr 1997;130:923-30)
