摘要: An ongoing nationwide prospective surveillance program for invasive H. influenzae b (Hib) disease in Israel enabled us to study the effectiveness of a national infant Hib immunization program, which included all infants born since January 1994. The vaccine used was polysaccharide conjugated outer membrane protein complex Neisseria meningitidis (PRP-OMPC). For cohort during 3 years 1994, 94.9% diseases and 96.6% meningitis. efficacy fully immunized subjects 98.7 99.5%, respectively. A herd immunity effect could be observed, reduction cases also occurred among too young immunized. No increase caused by S. pneumoniae N. observed period. This is first report outside North America Western Europe that demonstrates extensive within short time introduction conjugate vaccines program.
