Acute pressure, such as rubbing a new pair shoes, may produce separation within epidermis or at epidermal-dermal junction, creating blister. Less severe chronic pressure produces thickened with hyperkeratosis acanthosis. A wide variety clinical patterns develop that are sometimes associated hyperpigmentation.
