摘要: Over a reporting period of 5 years, craniotomy was performed in 26 dogs and cats with various intracranial lesions. X-ray computed tomography all animals prior to surgery. Twenty had neoplasms; these, 14 were meningioma, 11 represented wide variety brain tumors skeletal tumors. Three treated surgically for traumatic, open-skull fractures cerebral damage, 3 underwent biopsy evaluate chronic inflammatory disease. The overall medium survival time 212 days, the 1-year rate 39%, 2-year 20%. Dogs meningioma survived mean 198 485 respectively, rates 30% 50% cats. median other than meningeal neoplasms 414 40%. death 19% could be related combination advanced disease Because fatality seldom occurred as direct result surgery, morbidity mortality associated pet can seen acceptably low. In 29 34 craniotomies, dura mater defects left unsutured no adverse effects seen.
