摘要: Enteropathogenic (EPEC) and enterohaemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) constitute a significant risk to human health worldwide. Both pathogens colonize the intestinal mucosa and, by subverting epithelial cell function, produce characteristic histopathological feature known as 'attaching effacing' (A/E) lesion. Although EPEC was first E. be associated with disease in 1940s 1950s, it not until late 1980s early 1990s that mechanisms bacterial gene products used induce this complex brush border membrane lesion diarrhoeal started unravelled. During past few months, there has been burst of new data have revolutionized some basic concepts molecular basis pathogenesis general particular. Major breakthroughs developments genetic A/E formation, signal transduction, protein translocation, host receptors colonization are highlighted review.
