摘要: Pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma (PXA) is a rare, superficially located astrocytic glioma of children and young adults, which associated with relatively favorable prognosis. Here we report on the expression hematopoietic progenitor cell vascular endothelial antigen CD34 in PXAs. We found immunoreactivity various fractions tumor cells 44 60 PXAs investigated (73%). was more common WHO grade II (37 tumors, 84%) than anaplastic features (7 16 44%). Immunoreactivity for also commonly detected single or clustered dysplastic neural within cerebral cortex adjacent to Reverse transcription-PCR revealed that express full-length transcript known splice variant encoding truncated form CD34. Both transcripts were detectable at higher levels as compared diffuse astrocytomas non-neoplastic brain tissue. Taken together, our findings demonstrate frequently not only but cortex. Therefore, immunostaining may be helpful tool histological differential diagnosis
