Taxonomic Relationship Among Seven Species of Groupers (Genus Epinephelus; Family Serranidae) as Revealed by RAPD Fingerprinting

摘要: Phenotypic identification of groupers the genus Epinephelus is based on color patterns and a suite morphologic characters. However, these characters often show intraspecific variations differences between juveniles adults same species. The present work an attempt to study ratify status spp. using random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis samples drawn from southeast southwest coasts India. RAPD fingerprints generated in diacanthus, E. areolatus, chlorostigma, bleekeri, coioides, tauvina, malabaricus with 4 primers (OPA 01, OPA 07, OPF 08, 10) were consistent, reproducible, yielded species-specific diagnostic markers all A total 59 loci size range 70 4500 bp produced arbitrary primers. An unweighted pair-group method arithmetic mean (UPGMA) dendogram was constructed genetic distance values relationships among 7 All individuals each species formed monophyletic clusters. intraspecies value (0.305) significantly lower than interspecies (0.365). most distantly related diacanthus bleekeri. relationship very close also chlorostigma Within-species polymorphism highest (49.15%) lowest tauvina (25.42%).
