摘要: In many applications of line intersect sampling, transects consist multiple, connected segments in a prescribed configuration. The relationship between the transect configuration and selection probability population element is illustrated consistent sampling protocol, applicable to populations composed arbitrarily shaped elements, proposed. It shown that this protocol obviates arbitrary practice treating multiple intersections single particle as independent probabilistic events preserves design-unbiasedness Kaiser’s (1983, Biometrics 39, 965–976) conditional unconditional estimators, suitably generalized segmented designs. relative efficiency utility designs are also discussed from fixed perspective.
