摘要: Injury to peripheral dental tissues evokes dynamic alternations in central sensory pathways. We have previously reported that transient stimulation of the pulp with noxious heat induction immediate early gene product Fos transitional region between subnucleus interpolaris and caudalis (Vi/Vc) (Vc). A question arises as whether similar changes occur response inflammation tooth pulp. In this study, effects pulpal produced by bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) on face-grooming behavior trigeminal expression were examined. Face-grooming behaviors recorded daily for 3 days pre- 24, 48 72 h post- LPS or saline application. All animals perfused Brainstems processed Fos-like immunoreactivity (Fos-LI). Teeth H&E staining. Histological examination LPS-treated teeth revealed features an acute pulpitis. Moreover, showed greater activity (i.e. tongue protrusions) directed injured than sham-operated group. The number Fos-positive neurons was (Vc) regions compared animals, deeper laminae superficial each region. treatment did not evoke rostral above Vi/Vc. These results demonstrate LPS-induced significant alterations Vi/Vc Vc, such may underlie observed nociceptive behavioral responses play important role producing a symptomatic pulpitis humans.
