摘要: The fire performance of polyamide 6 (PA6) blended with phenyl phosphonic acid functionalized halloysite nanotubes (PPA-HNTs) is evaluated in order to determine if there any gains over the unmodified composite. In continuing search for safe halogen-free retardants polymers, and desire more fully capture advantages nano-materials, this research seeks utilize synergy which might result improved PA6, via known offered by nano particles phosphorus-based compounds. HNTs offer ability functionalization exchange at their hydroxyl sites, while PPA can readily attach these sites because its acidity. context, act as a carrier within polymeric matrix it intercalated acid. are added melt extrusion then analyzed using thermal analysis cone calorimetry. key finding from work that PPA, followed blending into PA6 results significant improvement altering combustion dynamics polymer. This proposes new synergistic retardant system polyamides utilising relatively inexpensive components. More broadly, concept such HNTs, so easily functionalized, be applied other thermoplastic materials, additives, improvements material properties than fire. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
