摘要: Antimicrobial compounds are molecules widespread in life forms to mediate competition, and their industrial production could be important for potential use as preservatives the food, cosmetic, pharmaceutical industries. Pathogen resistance causes high mortality rates hospitals economic losses health institutions. Pathogens such methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae, beta-lactam-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa most common examples. This worldwide problem requires discovery of new with antibiotic activity, effective therapeutics strategies, research promising targets. Most antibiotics come from screening programs natural sources, including isolation microorganisms. Extremophile microorganisms a valuable source novel biomolecules unusual properties, antimicrobial activity. Because harsh conditions, Patagonian, sub-Antarctic, Antarctic environments ideal places bioprospecting. Patagonia is sparsely populated region located at southern end South America, shared by Argentina Chile. The overall climate cool dry; east coast warmer than west, especially summer, because branch Southern Equatorial Current reaches its shores, whereas west washed cold current. Cold suitable ability produce cold-active biotechnology.
