摘要: Background: Postoperative nausea and vomiting following anaesthesia surgery are common can create considerable problems regarding management of patients outcome the surgical procedure. Methods: This study evaluates compares efficacy safety metochlopramide to that prochlorperazine in prevention postoperative after tonsillectomy young adult patients. 150 patients, either sex, undergoing under same anaesthetic technique were studied a randomized, double blind, placebo controlled manner. Either metoclopramide 0.1-0.2 mg kg -1 , or 5% Dextose normal saline (5% D/N.S) (2ml) as was injected intravenously 10 minutes before induction general anaesthesia. Episodes nausea, retching/ vomiting, adverse events, vital signs, need for rescue antiemetic drug ( –1 IV) recorded until four hours from end Results: The overall frequency PONV 18%, 16%, 24% group A (metoclopramide), B (prochlorperazine) C (placebo) respectively. 2%, 8% 12% Prochloperazine group, control These differences did not reach statistical significance (P>0.05).
