摘要: Objective: This article aims to determine the incidence of periapical granuloma from extracted teeth and correlate clinical diagnoses with histopathological types granuloma. Patients Methods: Over a period eight months, prospective study designed as routine biopsy recoverable tissues obtained patients who had single tooth extraction was carried out. Results: One hundred thirty-six participated in study, 75 (55.1%) histopathologically diagnosed periradicular lesions. There were 23 (16.9%) cases granuloma, male female ratio 2: 1. The lesion presented mostly between third fourth decades life ( n =9, 6.6%). Clinically acute apical periodontitis significantly associated predominantly foamy macrophages lymphocytes P <0.05). Conclusion: Periapical appears be less common this compared previous reports. In contrast reports that relate an flare abundant neutrophilic infiltration, has shown marked at phase, which are diagnosis periodontitis. We recommend classification into early, intermediate, late stages lesion, based on inflammatory cells.
